Charles Schultze received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland. He first went to work for the federal government in President Kennedy's Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He became head of the Bureau of the Budget in 1965 under President Johnson. He then served as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors during the entire term of President Carter.
In this interview, Dr. Schultze comments on the long sweep of American economic history since World War II and discusses in detail the fiscal policies of President Johnson and President Carter.
