`Alice Rivlin earned her Ph.D. in economics from Radcliffe College in 1958. In 1975 she became the first director of the Congressional Budget Office, a position she held until 1983. Dr. Rivlin was appointed to two key positions by President Clinton: as director of the Office of Management and Budget in 1994 and as vice chair of the Federal Reserve in 1996. Dr. Rivlin also served on President Obama's National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.
