Charles Snipes was born in 1925 and served in World War II. In 1945 he was transferred to the OAB to serve with a transportation company which assisted with the shipment of war material. He remained in the service after the war and, from his base at the OAB, traveled to the South Pacific where he assisted with atmospheric nuclear weapons testing. Snipes retired from the service in 1963 and soon thereafter went to work for Holmes and Narver, a defense contractor. In this interview, Snipes discusses the core cargo shipping functions of the OAB and the build-up during the Korean War.
