Description
Born in 1939, Thomas Galvin was raised on Long Island and then in Tampa, Florida. He enlisted in the army in 1961, attended officer candidate school, and then was commissioned as an officer in 1965. He was stationed in Korea, Fort Dix (New Jersey), and other locations. In the late 1970s he was stationed at the San Francisco Presidio. Galvin played a key role in facilitating the closure of the Presidio after 1988. In 1995 he assumed the position of Base Transition Coordinator for the Oakland Army Base.
