Jack Macy was born in Oakland in 1929 and raised in Berkeley. As a Marine, Macy served and was wounded in the Korean War. After recovering from his injuries, he joined his father in the family Commerce, Industry, and Labor, Macy Movers, which had been operating since 1915. Under Jack Macy, Macy Movers was a long-term contractor with the Oakland Army Base, moving personal property of soldiers being transferred overseas. In this interview, Macy discusses some of the details associated with property transportation. Mr. Macy died in 2009.
