Description
Burton Greenberg was a member of the SFMOMA and an attorney. He became interested in the museum after realizing that he had no training or experience related to any art form, so when he had the opportunity to join a museum and expand his knowledge, he did so via a membership at the SFMOMA. Greenberg also helped secure funding for the museum and other cultural institutions through his clients. In this interview Greenberg discusses his early interest in visual arts, membership at the museum, member parties, the museums perception with the general public, lack of community participation, the museums evolution, comparison between the SFMOMA and the de Young, accessibility of the museum, and the state of the San Francisco cultural scene.
