Description

Earl Raab was the director of the San Francisco Jewish Community Relations Council, author, and activist. Born in 1919, Raab attended City College of New York before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Raab moved to San Francisco, where he served as a chairman of the Bay Area Human Relations Clearinghouse, later serving on the Interim Committee on Human Relations. In this interview, Raab discusses the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, civil rights organizing in the sixties and seventies, and affirmative action and anti-discrimination laws. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting the San Francisco minority politics and the Human Rights Commision.
