Description

Hayley Firestone Jessup was the daughter of Catherine and Brooks Firestone, who ran Firestone Vineyards in the San Ynez Valley. In 1972, noting the lack of wineries in Southern California, her father Brooks and her grandfather took over management of a property in Los Olivos and developed it into Firestone Vineyard. Following five years as a teacher, Jessup returned to join the family business and began to work at the vineyard full time. In this interview, Jessup discusses her childhood in Europe, early recollections of the family’s entrance into the wine industry, the administrative structure of Firestone Vineyards, and global conversations about wine and health. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting the Firestone family and Firestone Vineyards.
