Willie May Cotright is interviewed here jointly with Mr. Hubert Webster, also interviewed as part of this series. Ms. Cotright was born and raised in Lousiana, and came to Richmond in search of wartime work with her husband as a young woman. In this interview she talks about housing and work in Richmond during World War II, and discusses her life after the war. She and her husband ran the Cotright corner store, one of the first African American owned Commerce, Industry, and Labores in Richmond, as well her involvement with the local NAACP chapter. She and Mr. Webster also discuss the impacts of Richmond industry on the health of their family members.
