Patricia Buls was born and raised in Iowa, and moved to the Bay Area in 1942 to be with her husband. In this interview, Ms. Buls discusses wartime housing, wartime work as a draftsman, learning about people from other cultures and racism, being a woman in the shipyards and changing womens roles, raising a family, and participating in Kaiser's early health plan.
