Justine Miner was a chef and restaurant owner who established RNM Restaurant in San Francisco. Born in 1973 in Bethesda, Maryland, she briefly attended French American International School in San Francisco as a child and later graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1995, followed by a year at the California Culinary Academy. She went on to work in several restaurants, including the Globe, Postrio, Café Kati, and Dine, before opening RNM Restaurant in San Francisco’s Lower Haight district in 2002. In 2003, the San Francisco Chronicle named her as one of the Rising Star Chefs of the year. In this interview, Miner discusses her education and early cooking experience, founding RNM Restaurant, gender in the restaurant industry, and her unique style of cuisine.
