Edward Sbragia was the senior vice president and winemaster for Beringer Wine Estates Holdings. Born in 1948 in Healdsburg, California, he earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of California, Davis, and his master’s in enology from California State University, Fresno. Following his work with Gallo laboratories and Foppiano Vineyards, he joined Beringer Vineyards in 1976 and took over all winemaking responsibilities in 1984. In this interview, Sbragia discusses his family’s history in the wine industry, education and early work experience, his mentor Myron Nightingale, and the production of wine at Beringer.
