Scott Fleming was an attorney specializing in Commerce, Industry, and Labor and tax law who joined the legal department of the Kaiser Company in 1952. He served as the counsel to Kaiser when it was rife with the most turmoil. Family background, childhood in Nevada; UC Berkeley, WWII, law school at Chicago and Berkeley; Kaiser Company Legal Department, 1949-1980s; Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program: Tahoe Conference, expansion to Cleveland, Denver, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii, governmental relations; reflections on Medicare, HMOs, Sidney Garfield, Ernest Saward, Clifford Keene and other physicians; work for U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, 1971-1973; comments on Kaiser executives Henry J. Kaiser, Eugene Trefethen, and James Vohs.
