Description
Jason Peltier was a manager for the Central Valley Project Water Association and combatted the passage of the 1992 Central Valley Project Improvement Act in 1992. Peltier had attempted to defeat the passage of the reform legislation known as the Miller-Bradley bills with an alternative bill sponsored by Senator John Seymour. In this interview Peltier discusses the background of the Central Valley Water Project and agriculture's position in the debate over the Central Valley Project Improvement Act, the Miller-Bradley and Seymour bills in Congress, the Endangered Species Act, environmental movements, pressure from farmers, the passage of H.R.429 and the Omnibus Water Bill. Commentary on Bill Bradley, J. Bennett Johnston, George Miller, John Seymour, Stuart Somach, Thomas Graff, and Pete Wilson were also included. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting California water resources development.
