Description

John Parducci was a Northern Californian vintner who ran the family-owned Parducci Wine Cellars as its general manager and winemaster. Born in 1918 in Cloverdale, California, he attended Santa Rosa junior college for two years and learned to make wine throughout the 1930s, following the establishment of the family winery by his uncle and father in 1932. Parducci then took over winemaking duties in the 1940s and assumed full management of the winery and vineyards with his brother in 1964. In this interview, Parducci discusses his family history and the founding of Parducci Wine Cellars, the wine industry after Prohibition, wine making and developing new products, and the eventual sale of Parducci wine to Teachers Management & Investment. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting the California wine industry.
