Harry and Marguerite Williams are longtime residents of Richmond, California. Harry Williams was born in 1920 in San Francisco, California and moved to Richmond in 1927. Marguerite Williams was born in 1924 in Stockton, California and moved to Oakland at age fourteen. In this interview, they discuss the racial climate in Richmond before World War II, the influx of African Americans from the south moving to the Bay Area during the war, postwar changes in Richmond, and Marguerite Williams’ perspective on Richmond today.
