Edmund A. Rossi was the president of the Italian Swiss Colony Winery in Asti, California, for 27 years and an influential figure in the California wine industry. Born in 1888 to Pietro Carlo Rossi, one of the co-founders of Italian Swiss Colony, Rossi attended the University of San Francisco. In addition to his career with the family winery, he was a founder and director of the Wine Institute until 1947 and a manager of the California Wine Advisory Board until 1960. In this interview, Rossi discusses the founders and early shareholders of Italian Swiss Colony, Prohibition and its effect on the industry, and his own involvement with the Wine Institute and Wine Advisory Board. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting the California wine industry.
