Alice Friedman was one of the most important physicians in the history of Kaiser, even more significant given that she was one of the healthcare program's first female doctors. Her career included ventures into the fields of pediatrics and nutrition. Residency at Kaiser Foundation Hosp., Oakland, 1947-1948; formation of the Permanente Medical Group Partnership, 1948; women, minorities and Communist accusations; opposition from fee-for-service medicine; development of immunology and pediatrics; staff physician, Permanente Medical Group, 1952-1985; residency in allergy, Kaiser Foundation Hosp., Walnut Creek; Ben Reingold and his diet; KPMCP strengths and weaknesses; women physicians.
