Louise M. Davies was the benefactor of the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall at the San Francisco Performing Arts Center. Born in 1900 in Quincy, California, she made a gift of five million dollars to the Sponsors of San Francisco Performing Arts Center, which raised the needed money for building the Symphony. Additionally Davis served on the boards of the Symphony and of the Opera, as well as on the board of Sponsors. In this interview, she discusses her childhood in Plumas County, interest in art and architecture, the San Francisco Symphony, and thoughts on philanthropy and volunteerism.
