Description
Ann Mundstock was a pioneer in dance and movement therapy. She was born in 1895 in Hamburg and came to San Francisco in the 1920s, bringing with her the new German dance and movement theories that have become part of the groundwork for the rich production of dance in the Bay Area. She frequently taught classes in the Bay Area to both professional and amateur dancers. This is a series of interviews from friends, colleagues, and former students who discuss exercise therapy and breathing techniques used in Mundstock’s classes, dance and cultural scene in San Francisco from the 1920s to the 1930s, and her relationship with fellow dancers and the Bay Area community.
