Mildred Younger was a native of California and a prominent activist for the Republican Party. Born in Los Angeles in 1920, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and married Evelle Younger, a former California Attorney General, in 1942. In this interview, Younger discusses her family background and education, marriage to Evelle Younger and his political career, her activism in the Republican Party, her campaign for state senate, her career in radio and television broadcasting, her experience with spastic dysphonia, women in politics, Evelle Younger’s gubernatorial campaign, and her appointment by President Gerald Ford to the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science.
