Description
N. Floy Bracelin was a UC Berkeley University Herbarium employee who was tasked with processing Mrs. Ynes Mexia's South American plant collection. In the mid-1930s she lost her full time position at the Herbarium but still processed the Mexia botanical collection and developed considerable skill in drafting scientific charts. She remained in the Life Sciences Building until she turned over the Mexia and her Blake Garden collections to the Herbarium in the early-1940s. In this interview, Bracelin discusses her employment with the University of California Herbarium, early acquaintanceship with Ynes Mexia, Mrs. Mexia's initial botanical expeditions, Mrs. Mexia in South America and Mexia's family history as well as Mrs. Mexia's unpredictable moods, and a biography of Bracelin herself.
