Description

Rosalind Wiener Wyman was a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 1953 to 1965, serving three terms. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1930, Wyman got her start in Democratic politics as a volunteer for Helen Gahagan Douglas’ 1950 Senate campaign and was elected to the Los Angeles City Council at age twenty-two. During her years on the city council, she continued to organize campaigns for Democratic candidates and attend national conventions as a delegate. Later, she was involved in organizing her husband Eugene Wyman’s own political campaigns. In this interview, Wyman discusses her background, her 1953 Los Angeles City Council Campaign, her three terms on the city council, her career after the city council, Democratic party politics, and women in politics.
