Ansel Adams was a landscape photographer and environmentalist. He was born and raised in San Francisco, where he worked as an apprentice to local photographers. He later helped found Group f/64, an association of Bay Area photographers who shared a common style characterized by sharply focused images. His work in the Sierra Nevada spans over more than sixty years, culminating in the publication of his great scenic book, ""Yosemite and the Range of Light."" In this interview, Adams discusses growing up in San Francisco, photographic techniques and equipment, publications and exhibitions, his trips to the Sierra Nevada, and fellow photographers and artists. This interview is part of a group of interviews documenting photographers of the twentieth century.
