Rebecca V. Lubin was a social worker and wife of businessman and president of the California Commission on Immigration and Housing Simon J. Lubin. Born in the late 1800s in Moscow, Russia, Lubin grew up in New York City and married Simon Lubin in 1905 after they met doing social work in New York settlement houses. Lubin was interviewed for a biography on her later husband, and in this interview, she discusses his family history, the formation of the Commision on Immigration and Housing, the Sacramento Citizens’ Council, labor disputes and the Industrial Workers of the World, and the Simon J. Lubin Society. This interview also includes a statement from Simon Lubin’s daughter, Ruth Moonitz.
