The location of the original of this half of this daguerreotype panorama is unknown. It is believed to have been lost in the San Francisco fire of 1906. This copy is dated 1910 by Martin Behrman, but it is not clear whether he photographed from the original at that time. The view has sometimes been reproduced under the title "Sea of masts".
