Description
This image is a black-and-white comic strip by Rube Goldberg featuring several captioned panels and hand-drawn illustrations on a rectangular, yellowing paper background. The largest panel on the left shows a man sitting and reading a newspaper; on his head is a mechanical device attached to his glasses. The panel is captioned "Wireless Arrangement Guaranteed to Find Your Glasses When You Forget Where You Left Them." A secondary drawing in this panel shows the same man pressing a button on his chest which sends a signal to the device to ring a bell, and he says "They're in the dining room." In a center panel, two men in dark clothes and hats follow a shorter man in a polka-dot outfit. This panel is captioned "The only other way to make sure of not losing your glasses," and two people in the background talk to each other, saying "They are detectives hired by the month to keep track of his glasses." The right-hand section is titled "I Never Thought of That," including smaller sketches of two men fighting over a woman, and then jumping in a lake after she says "I don't want either of you." A signature, "Rube Goldberg," is visible in the lower right, and the entire drawing is characterized by thin, detailed ink lines and a whimsical, complex mechanical aesthetic.
