Description

This image is a hand-drawn cartoon spread from the Rube Goldberg pictorial material collection, consisting of several captioned sketches and a comic strip focused on the humor of miniaturized automobiles. On the left, several illustrations depict extremely small cars; one sketch shows a person using a broom and dustpan to sweep up a tiny car, while another shows a large car driving over a man in a small car, saying "These roads seem to be in very poor condition." The central illustration features a man in a patterned suit standing next to a tiny car, with text above stating, "Old man, I'm sorry you have to go around in an invalid chair—when did it happen?" to which the driver responds, "It didn't happen yet—this is my new 1916 Fleamobile." To the right, a sketch shows a man in a tiny car wearing a hat which holds a seat above him, and the rest of his family perched on top of each other. The far right of the image contains a vertical comic strip titled "Phoney Films - No. 129," which depicts a man in a fur coat standing by a desk. Hand-written text and dialogue bubbles appear throughout the piece, and the bottom right corner includes a signature and a date that appears to be 1914.
