An interview with Egyptian feminist Dr. Nawal El Saadawi, conducted by Ines Rieder at the United Nations Conference on Women, held in Copenhagen in July of 1980. Dr. Saadawi discusses the woman's body under colonialism and patriarchy and about women in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Dr. Saadawi is well known in the Middle East as one of the few Arab women who, for the last twenty years, has written extensively about the problems of Arab women. She has written more than 20 books, some of them selling millions of copies. Her latest book, "The Hidden Face of Eve: Women in the Arab World," was published in London by CEO Press and is available in the U.S. through the Monthly Review Press.
