The first part, Common sense, is a translation of "Le bon sens, ou Idées naturelles opposées aux idées surnaturelles", by Baron Holbach, also published with title "Le bon sens du curé J. Meslier". The second part, "Abstract of the Testament of John Meslier", was first published by Voltaire in 1761. cf. Voltaire, par C. Bengesco; Le libertinage, par F. Lachèvre, v. 7, p. 227-246; Quérard, etc.
