Title
A view showing a piece of cut-over land covered with bear clover also known as mountain misery (Chamaebatia foliolosa). This shrub takes possession of vast areas of open hillsides in the Sierras and presents a great fire hazard because of its tarry nature. Samples were collected from this area and shipped to the Leather and Paper Lab in Washington for an examination of the tannic acid content of the shrub. Located in Section 28 T 3 N R 17 E. The picture was taken looking east across the north fork of the Tuolumne River and over the Madera Lumber Company's mill (shown in #2658).
