Description

A black-and-white photograph depicts two men of Japanese descent engaged in a game of Go (referred to as "Goh" in the archival text) inside a room. The central figure is an older man with gray hair, seen from the chest up, looking down with focus at the game board. Opposite him, only the back of the head and shoulder of a second person are visible in the foreground. Between them sits a thick, traditional wooden Go board (goban), topped with numerous small black and white circular stones. A wooden bowl containing additional playing stones sits on the table next to the board. The background is softly blurred, showing a dark, indoor setting with a plain wall and a hint of two darkened windows. To the right of the photograph, a vertical color calibration target and a grayscale step wedge are included in the frame for archival documentation.
