Title
Planting of Pinus attenuata and coulteri on top of San Marcos Ridge, Santa Barbara County, California. Trees stunted and dying from effects of a knot fungus disease. Note the stunted, rounded form of the trees and dying of part of the crown which preceeds death. Knobocones were attacked first and most seriously, though disease has recently attacted the Coulter pines in the plantation causing the same sort of galls.
