Biographical NoteAlso known as Juan Bautista Rogers Cooper, Cooper was born in England and raised in Massachusetts. He came to California as master of the ship Rover, and was a pre-gold rush pioneer of the Monterey, Califonia vicinity. He married Encarnaci/ac\on Vallejo, sister of Mariano G. Vallejo. His half brother was California pioneer Thomas O. Larkin. <physfacet label="Image Package Note">Original component parts: plate, mat, cover glass.
