Dictation recorded by Thomas Savage for H.H. Bancroft, relating to his career as a soldier, mainly in southern California; expeditions against Indians; the Mission fathers; the Solis revolt; the governorships of Victoria, Figueroa, Chico and Alvarado; his administration as majordomo for the Mission of San Buenaventura from 1842; and arrival of Stockton and Kearny in the South, in 1847.
