Description
This is a story of a doctor who wanted to stay in Baghdad and tend to the sick and wounded but was driven out by the new government and militias. He stayed until his own assistant was killed and it was hopeless to remain at his hospital. His sense of humor remains as he tells of how he had to hire a taxi to move his luggage two blocks so they would be safe. He had to cross two streets from his home to get to the car that would take them to Syria, It was so dangerous to walk with bags that he hired a taxi to come to his front door to pick up his bags and drop them off two streets away where they got the bus to Syria. The story sheds light on the danger they were living in. Dr. Alusi and his wife settled in the San Francisco bay area.
