Title
Redwood region. Type of logging railroad trestle build by Dolbeer and Carson Lumber Company on Elk River, Humboldt County, California. Bridge #2 on north bank spur of north fork of Elk River. Caps are 14" x 14" x 14'. Stringers are 8 x 16 x 32, staggered at ends and separated by 2" cast iron spool-like spacers with drift bolts through 4 stringers. Spacing prevents decay and staggering cuts down work of cutting ends for close fits. 7-16-43. E.F.
