Telephone line along railroad from Duncan Hills to Cazadero is supported mainly on second growth redwood poles. This is a pole at the 82nd mile, painted white. At ground line inspector has chopped into sapwood, into heartwood. Sapwood is worthless, heartwood is still sound. Diameter at ground 13''. 6-2-22, E.F.
