Redwood sprouting. Two 6-inch second-growth poles, 11' high, set to serve as supports for a sign. Set in 1933, driven into ground with a maul. Both sprouted at once. One died after two years. The other has persisted and sprouts are vigorous. Have not been pruned. Exposed to winds from West. Sprouts from ground line top. Evidently well rooted now. Some branches now parallel the pole and are 6 feet long and 1" at trunk. 25 sprouts come from beow ground line. Some branches grew 24" in 1939. Lawn is irrigated. Hunter's Lunch Room.
