Description
This vertical WWII-era poster is divided into two main sections: a graphic illustration on top and large Chinese text below. The illustration depicts a Chinese soldier in a dark uniform and helmet standing on the right, holding a rifle. He looks toward the left, and behind him is a tangle of wires and several rough posts comprising a makeshift fence or barricade. Above the barricade, a blue halo surrounds a large white sun with twelve rays, the emblem of the Republic of China. The rest of the sky is red, with lines and as if from an explosion, above and behind the lone soldier. The bottom half of the poster contains eight large, bold Chinese characters arranged in two vertical columns. The text reads "越接近 越要堅," which translates to "The closer we get [to victory], the more resolute we must be." A small vertical color calibration strip is visible along the right edge of the white border.
