Description

A horizontal recruitment poster features a realistic illustration of a woman in a light blue nursing-style uniform and a white headscarf. She is positioned on the right side of the frame, shown from the waist up, and is looking toward the center left while holding a small glass bottle of amber-colored liquid. The background is a pale, neutral tone with a thin red border framing the entire composition. To the left of the woman, the poster contains several lines of text in varying fonts and sizes. The top text, written in a dark cursive script, reads, "Do a Worthwhile Job." Below this, in a larger, bold, black sans-serif font, are the words "Join the AUSTRALIAN ARMY MEDICAL WOMEN'S SERVICE." Underneath the main heading, smaller block text states: "4,000 Women and Girls between 18 and 45 years of age are required NOW for full-time service with Australian Army Medical Units." Further down, it adds, "PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NOT ESSENTIAL — THE A.A.M.W.S. WILL TRAIN YOU." At the bottom, fine print provides contact instructions: "For full particulars and conditions of service apply personally or in writing to the Assistant Controller A.A.M.W.S. VICTORIA BARRACKS, PADDINGTON. Telephone: F 0455." Small credits at the very bottom indicate the artist's name, Napier Waller, and that the poster was reproduced by courtesy of "The Australian."
