Description
This vertical recruitment poster from 1941 features a central illustration of a tan military coat and pith helmet set against a blue background. The coat is hanging on a tailor dummy or mannequin, fully buttoned and with a military baton tucked under its left arm. The coat reatures red shoulder marks on the shoulder straps, and an enlarged red shoulder mark is illustrated in the top right of the poster. To the middle right of the uniform is a small silver circular medal with a red ribbon below it. The poster's text is written in Afrikaans using various colors and styles. At the top left, slanted red text reads, "DIE DRAG VAN DIE DAG NIR OORLOGSTYD." To the right of the uniform, bold dark blue text states, "DIE ENIGSTE DRAG VIR NIE-SLEUTELMANNE." Below the uniform, an irregular white block contains the words "MANNE BENODIG vir alle EENHEDE van die" in dark blue. Below this, the words "UNIE-VERDEDIGINGSMAG" appear in large red letters, followed by "SLUIT NOU AAN!" in bold, slanted dark blue text.
