Description

This horizontal rectangular poster features two panels on a tan-colored background with two distinct graphic emblems. On the left panel, is a blue and black illustration of a fasces—a bundle of rods tied around an arrow or spear—surrounded by a circular blue wreath. On the upper end of the fasces is a soft red cap with a blue and white circular emblem. On the right panel, bold black text at the top reads "POUR NE PAS ÊTRE ASSERVIS" (To not be enslaved). Below this is a black-and-white illustration of a helmeted figure, wrapped in cloth and holding a round shield above a farmer plowing a field and an industrial building. A horizontal tricolor bar of red, white, and blue separates the top section from the bottom text, which reads "POUR DÉFENDRE NOTRE SOL NOS BIENS NOS LIBERTÉS" (To defend our soil, our goods, our liberties). At the very bottom center, a small black five-pointed star sits above the date "21 SEPTEMBRE 1939". The poster is showing some discoloration and a few small stains, particularly along the bottom edges.
