Description

An vertical, rectangular propaganda poster from France (1939–1945) features an illustration of four figures seen from above set against a vibrant red background. At the top, the words "Le Vin Chaud" are written in a large, white, cursive script which flows as if vapor or steam. Two of the figures are dressed in military unforms and hold rifles with bayonets, and the other two wear civilian clothes and wide-brimmed hats with ribbon or scarf blowing. The figures face each other and hold cups or glasses filled with red liquid which steams, and they are standing on a simplified outline map of France in off-white. At the bottom of the poster, is the the blue text: "DE L'ARRIÈRE A L'AVANT... nous vaincrons en le buvant!" Smaller text at the very bottom edge attributes the poster to the "MINISTÈRE DE L'AGRICULTURE."
