This photograph and its description reflects the particular interests, perspectives, and values of the War Relocation Authority (WRA), a non-military government agency tasked with forcibly relocating and unjustly imprisoning Japanese American citizens and residents. Many subjects depicted were photographed under duress, and within a particular historical context: the forcible removal and incarceration of a group of people without due process. We have retained the original description of these photographs to provide information about the record creators and make these collections more accessible for research.
