Full title:Mr. and Mrs. Ichisuke Fukuhara, Issei, from the Manzanar Relocation Center are shown with other members of their family outside their house on the grounds of the Calderone Greenhouses in Farmingdale, Long Island, about 30 miles from New York City, to which they have relocated. Standing (left to right) are Willy Fukuhara, a son; Mr. Fukuhara; Tomiko, a daughter; Mrs. Fukuhara, Mrs. Henry Fukuhara, daughter-in-law; and Henry Fukuhara, her husband, who is holding the younger daughter Yoshino. Among those seated is their older daughter Shizuko. The Fukuharas were in the nursery business at Santa Monica, California, prior to evacuation. Now the elder Fukuhara and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fukuhara are employed in the Calderone Greenhouses, where Henry is chief assistant. Willy attends the local high school and helps in the nursery in his spare time. Tomiko also works in the greenhouse. Photographer: Ishimaru, Stone Farmingdale, New York.
