Full title:In the tool shop at the plant of the Tuthill Spring Co., War Contract Manufacturers of heavy truck springs and spring accessories, George Y. Nakamura, competent tool machinist and welder, operates a heavy tool press. George, a former resident of Portland Oregon, at the time of evacuation, was sent to the Minidoka Relocation Center. From there he volunteered for sugar beet field work, and was immediately taken into the Franklin County Sugar Factory in Montana as a maintenance machinist. On March 1, 1943, he secured permanent leave, and went to Chicago where, after joining the C.I.O. Machinists' Union, he immediately found work at the Tuthill Spring Company. George is single, and his parents still reside at the Minidoka Relocation Center. Photographer: Parker, Tom Chicago, Illinois.
