Sheet numbering system uses both capital letters and lower case letters. Sheets numbered with capital letters cover parts of Europe located west of E38°20ʹ (a line running just east of Donetsk and Moscow). Sheets with lower case letters cover the area farther east, extending to E64°20ʹ (a line running west of the Ob River but east of the Ural Mountains and the Aral Sea).
Publication statement varies, e.g.: Hergestellt im Auftrage Gen St d H, Abt f KrKart u VermWes (II). Some sheets produced by Reichsamt für Landesaufnahme.
Each sheet has an individual title and a unique number, eg.: Hitra-Lillehammer L64/M62 -- Sanulskaja-Omutninsk F61-G59.
Includes various editions of some maps, e.g.: Vorläufige Ausgabe -- Sonderausgabe -- Ausgabe Nr. 1 -- Ausgabe Nr. 2.
Most sheets include source material notes or source diagrams as a summary of scale, grid, series numbering, and edition statements.
