Coverage area is Italy north of the line Livorno-Ancona and adjacent areas of Slovenia and Croatia. Issued in quadrangles 5 x 7-minutes. Some sheets issued in quarter sheets. Individual sheets are numbered and named: Blatt Nr.6 II NO Madésimo -- Blatt Nr.53b-I-SW Villa del Nevoso -- Blatt Nr. 12-I-NW Tre Cime de Lavaredo. German reprints of Italian maps. Source maps are sheets of the Carta d'Italia issued by Istituto Geografico Militare. Based on Rome meridian. Shows drainage, three types of political and administrative boundaries, four classes of railroads, six classes of roads, and 4 classes of trails. Also shows many other cultural features, including information about land cover. Includes source map note, political boundary diagram, index to adjoining sheets, grid note, extenisve legend with glossary, Planzeiger reference card for the Deutsches Heeresgitter grid, and Ballenbezeichnung diagram summarizing information about scale, grids, edition, and series sheet numbering. At head of some sheets: "Deutsche Heereskarte. Nur für den Dienstgebrauch. Als Schiesskarte nicht geeignet. Behelfsmässige Ausgabe." German military grid on Deutsche Heereskarte sheets: "Das Deutsche Heeresgitter ist für den Meridianstreifen 15° in Abständen von 4 cm = 1 km durchgezogen." Italian grid on Deutsche Heereskarte sheets: "Ital. Gauss-Krügergitter ist in Abständen von 4 cm = 1 km angerissen." At head of other sheets: "Truppenkarte. Als Schiesskarte geeignet." Military grid on Truppenkarte sheets: "Das vorläufige Deutsche Heeresgitter ist für den Meridianstreifen 9° in Abständen von 4 cm = 1 km durchgezogen."
