Goldrush journal; an account of a voyage to California via Panama and of time spent in California before returning east : on January 1, 1849, Grymes left Gibson, Arkansas; he took the steamer, Crescent City, from New York arriving in Chagres February 14, and spent some days there, arriving in Panama on February 20. Took the steamer, Oregon, to San Francisco on March 8, arriving there after a 99-day total passage and went to the North Fork of the American River on the schooner, Empire, almost immediately. He returned to Sacramento in 8 days. On March 24, 1850, he left California for the East Coast. The earlier part of the journal is more detailed than the later; the last entry is June 5, 1850. Book includes miscellaneous accounting.
